The participatory development toolbox.
A curated, organised collection of practical instruments for participatory development — drawn from the World Bank, ADB, AIIB, UN agencies and specialised NGOs, and arranged so that a practitioner can find the right tool for a given phase, audience and theme.
What it is
One framework instead of dozens of separate ones.
The toolbox brings together instruments that already exist — from PEFA, UNDP, IBP, UNICEF, OECD and others — and organises them so they can be used together rather than one at a time. Its specific contribution is integration: a practitioner can assess, for example, public finance management through climate, gender and participation lenses at once, using instruments from several institutions in one protocol.
It is written for the practitioner in the field, not the desk reviewer: each tool carries implementation guidance, a worked example and downloadable templates, and the whole is organised by development phase, target audience and theme.

Each tool comes with implementation guidance, a practical example and downloadable resources. Whether you are designing a new project, improving one that exists, or building an organisation, the frameworks are meant to be adapted to your context, not applied as written.
The toolbox is one of three companion documents: the SEESALT report structure tells you what to write up; the SDG evaluation framework tells you how to judge whether it mattered.
